Photographs by Rip Smith and Wood Sculpture by Joe Bourgeios

Washington Street Artists’ Cooperative in Charles Town presents a selection of photographs by Rip Smith from his September, 2015 trip over 6,600 miles through 12 states. Complimenting Rip’s photographs will be a selection of wood sculptures by wood working artist and furniture designer Joe Bourgeois. Meet the artists at a reception on Friday, October 7 from 6-8pm.

The exhibit includes a selection of photographs from the 2015 edition of the “Abandoned Farms of North Dakota” plus other images from North and South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. Rip says “It was impossible to capture everything I wanted to on a three week trip. But it was an exploration and the images amounted to some extent as visual note-taking to remind me of places I want to go back to.”

The exhibit will be on display September 28 through October 23 in the Fire Hall Gallery at the Charles Town Visitors’ Center, 108 North George Street in Charles Town. Open hours are M-S 10-5, Sun 1-4. Hours for the Washington Street Artists’ Cooperative are Thu-Sat 12-5 and sun 1-4.
